But are they necessary or another waste of Federal taxpayer money?

When I think of the video footage from the tsunami in Thailand a few years ago, I think these are useful. A few years ago,there was a tsunami warning for the Pacific Northwest, and people were flocking to the beaches in hopes of seeing it. And if you have tourists from non-coastal areas, they really may not be aware of the dangers. Sometimes, we do need to state the obvious, I think.
sadly I think they are needed…you always see idiots standing around watching
