This is the first truly big flower to emerge from the Bird of Paradise I blogged about last August. Not too shabby for a barely 3yr old plant! 😉
Until next time…..

Lovely yellow! I think your January is looking so much prettier than my January.. 🙂
Thank you for the ping!
You’re welcome! 🙂
Reblogged this on Wordless Wednesday reblogs..

Strelitzia sure are crazy bold…I think that’s what appeals to me most!
magnificent flower we have so many in our yard and they are visited by so many different birds… lovely photo…
Our flora IS so similar, isn’t it? Many of the landscape choices in Vero Beach seem to be South African inspired. 🙂
The red bird of paradise is a popular landscape plant in Phoenix. It grows to be a tall shrub during the summer, with lovely orange/red flowers.
Phoenix is one of my favorite cities!
When the birds of paradise get huge and shrubby they make quite a show, don’t they?!
Oh yes, a perfect specimen – shame they don’t like the wet tropics, I’ve missed them. Ma had two big clumps, one over 6′ across with hundreds of flowers – though I don’t miss cleaning it up after years of neglect, what a job that was!
i can imagine!! Although they look delicate, these are tough plants to cut/prune.
Thank you so much for nice garden.
You’re quite welcome! 🙂
Oh that’s fantastic!
They really are striking plants. 🙂
It is gorgeous!
Thank you, Madhu. I so appreciate you taking the time to comment.
