Weekly Photo Challenge: Change

For this week’s challenge, I’d like to show you the change in my Frangipani cuttings. Frangipani is another name for Plumeria, the beautiful blooming shrub from which Hawaiian Leis are made. Although the flowers have a delicate appearance , the tree is thick, tough, and easy to propagate from branches like this:

Until a few weeks ago, the cutting above looked exactly as it did when Ivana gave it to me in January. The brownish tip growth is a recent change, indicating roots have developed, allowing growth to resume above ground.  I’m thrilled to know it finally “took,” and is catching up with the one in this picture:

Truth be told, these cuttings are two halves of a single 5.5″ branch.  (Why add one new specimen, when you can have two?! 😉 )

I wasn’t sure how the cutting with the blunted top would grow, but it’s obviously doing better than its brown-tipped counterpart!  The final close-up shows the biggest change between the two:

Until next time……

🙂 🙂 🙂
