We’re in Key West on vacation this week, so I’m just checking in briefly!
Look at the incredible, ENORMO, Kapok Tree we saw today!
There are so many beautiful flowers and trees here…very lush! Naturally, I’ve taken a ridiculous number of photos!
Until next time….
🙂 🙂 🙂
Editted on 8/10/13 to include a photo of the Kapok tree’s signage in the “featured image” header as well as here. (For easy reading, click on the photo to enlarge it.)

It is a big specimen, isn’t it? Reminds me, I must add the kapok trees to my list of things I have to shoot still! Have a great holiday!
I was so dumbfounded at the size, not to mention the buttressing roots! Talk about a solid trunk!!
I love kapok trees, I saw some in Ghana and their form is splendid. Looking forward to more of your holiday photos 🙂
Hi Gilly!
I had never even heard of Kapoks! I’d imagine the ones in Ghana were pretty dang tall, too!
I love the Kapok tree and it’s flowers are just out of this world…
After reading your comment I went looking for pics of blooming kapoks. I found a good one here Pretty amazing!!!!
Awesome tree1
Crazy enormous!!! Thanks for coming by and commenting!
I was in Key West several years ago, and I did not see that tree. Awesome. Although, now that I think about it, I may have some photos of similar, smaller versions of that tree. I’ll have to go check. Enjoy your trip.
I noticed some smaller ones in the background of other pics I took. I bet you will find a few when you look through your old photos! Fun place, Key West–definitely a spot I’d visit again.
Whew, that’s one gigantic tree! Enjoy the trip. 🙂
Thank you, JM. It was such fun!
