For this week’s challenge I pulled the best shots from our trip to Reykjavik and the Ring Road. Nothing says scale better than Iceland’s sweeping vistas and urban contrasts.
No real sun while we were there…and it was very cold and miserably wet! I can’t say we actually liked Iceland, but it was a memorable stop enroute to London!
Until next time…
🙂 🙂 🙂

I did have to chuckle when I saw a post coming from Florida about Iceland. 🙂 Gorgeous shots. I love the pops of color in the first photo. Iceland is kind of like Alaska to me – lovely to look at but I get my share of ice and cold right here. LOL
LOL! Exactly what we kept saying! We were like “why did we stop here?” And of course the entire country was coughing and hacking…so we arrived in England with colds!
Fabulous pictures! I don’t know why, but I’ve had a strong desire to visit Iceland. Maybe it’s watching House Hunters Imternational?
We’ve seen those eps too! 🙂 In fact, how wierd is this? When we were searching Airbnb for Reykjavik apartments one of the House Hunters’ families had theirs listed! Beautiful place…but too rich for our blood!! The one we booked was half the price!
Love the shot of the observatory
Claire!!! See you in 6 short weeks at the Algerian Coffee place?
Blimey 6 weeks isn’t long to go!
Crazy, right! Time flies!!
So are your bags packed?
Lol i’m at the “how can i squeeze all of this into my hiking backpack?” phase. Big development though: Moscow has been added to the itinerary for May! I applied for the Visa a few weeks ago and it is supposed to arrive March 6! Eeeeeekkkk!!!
Great photos for the challenge. Even without sun, it looks to be an interesting and pretty place to visit.
Hi E.C!
Yes, it was quite a place to see, but it’s hard to imagine how damp and icy that constant mist feels. Really biting!
How beautiful photos. I enjoyed them very much because never been there and thus Your post gave nice idea about Iceland. Thank You.
Thank you! It IS a very scenic country!
I have been a couple of times and have been fortunate to see some sunshine. There is a great view of Reykjavik from the top of the cathedral, did you do that?
Yes. all pics were taken with an iphone. 😉
Ever since I read a book about Leif Erikson as a kid I have wanted to visit Iceland. Looks very cool. I also saw this Icelandic movie once. It was a murder mystery and the main thing I remember is how the protagonist bought a cooked sheep’s head at the drive through.
They had some pretty unusual cuisine there…and ultra high priced!!!
